The challenge

Argea is a public agency that is currently approved to exercise the functions of managing, paying and controlling body in relation to the financing of the EU agricultural policy for the Sardinia Region.

With the growth of the agency’s activities and with increasing responsibility for activities such as the disbursement of EU funds, the processes within the agency and towards stakeholders have become even more complex, requiring greater control and auditing of processes and activities.

The activities in the agency were mainly developed on a day-to-day basis with specialized state-approved niche tools for the disbursement of the grants and the staff uses the typical tools of a workstation, such as the Microsoft Office suite and other tools available on the local server.

With the increase in the agency’s responsibilities and the complexity of the processes, the establishment of an internal auditing department was needed, in order to analyze the processes, regularize problems, and create reports to be presented to the control bodies of the EU.

This internal auditing area did not have any specific activity or project management tools available and had to do an extensive search of available software tools on the market, in order to do an internal benchmarking and choose the best one, particularly focusing on the specific needs of internal auditing. Argea does not use any integrated project management tools at an organizational level.

Standardized auditing projects and processes: Argea must manage standardized auditing projects and processes in the agency, meticulously checking that each step of the process is done within the defined time frame and resources. Twproject gave the flexibility to be able to create specific templates with standardized tasks for each audit project.
Real-time project management also for smart working: Argea has to manage multiple cascade / waterfall auditing projects and with task management distributed among different team members. Twproject was the central software to manage both the project and all the information in real time.

Since the implementation of Twproject Argea has been able to create a project management environment and standardized internal auditing processes, facilitating the fulfillment of the procedures of the EU legislations.
