Here are some concrete examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Quality improvement,<\/li><li>Production cost reduction,<\/li><li>Error rate reduction,<\/li><li>A higher level of customer service,<\/li><li>Increased customer retention rate.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Benefits can be <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twproject.com\/blog\/project-tangible-intangible-benefits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tangible or intangible<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A tangible benefit is quantitative, i.e. something that we can measure, such as a <strong>reduction in operating costs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An intangible benefit is something that cannot be measured accurately, although its effects are visible,<strong> such as increasing brand awareness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>performance management plan<\/strong> describes what the <strong>benefits of the project<\/strong> will be and how they will be classified and measured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to measure the delivery of some benefits, such as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twproject.com\/blog\/how-to-monitor-and-cut-business-costs-with-twproject\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cost reduction<\/a><\/strong>, a study of current costs within the organization is useful so that the project manager can compare it after the delivery of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The benefit management plan<\/strong> will therefore include the following key elements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A description of the benefit that should be provided.<\/li><li>The &#8220;owner&#8221; of the benefits.<\/li><li>How to determine the benefit.<\/li><li>Assumptions and risks considered in determining the benefit.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The resources involved must revise the plan throughout the project lifecycle to ensure that the stated benefits remain on the project&#8217;s delivery path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some benefits, in particular, may be awarded even after the project&#8217;s delivery, which is why monitoring and measuring benefits may expand beyond the completion of the project.<br><a name=\"process\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefit management process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong> project benefit management<\/strong> process cpnsists of four distinct phases. In each phase there are a number of associated key objectives, activities and results. These are:<br><a name=\"definition\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Definition of benefits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The project must clearly outline what benefits will be provided and how they will be quantified before the start of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The audience for this communication consists of all stakeholders who share an interest in the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When defining the benefits, it is important to take into account that most of them occur after the distribution of the output.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, the measurement and communication of benefits should also &#8211; and above all &#8211; continue after implementation.<br><a name=\"benefits\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Structuring of benefits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It can be tricky to know when and how to assess the <strong>benefits of a project<\/strong>, but it is important to make sure to specify:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What to measure and what to expect.<\/li><li>What measures will be used and how these measures comply with the general measures of the organization.<\/li><li>When and how to assess the benefits.<\/li><li>What is the threshold of success for the realization of the benefits.<\/li><li>What will be the impact on the project if the measured benefits do not match the expected benefits?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It is imperative that the method of measuring the benefits is established before the launch of the project.<br><a name=\"implementation\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.
